From Coach Nardiello: Dramatic, 10-8 win! Up early, but Midwood builds a 6-2 lead–and our Engineers just don’t give up, scoring 8 runs in last 2 innings! But Midwood rallies back in 7th, and with bases loaded, no outs freshman Cooper Chung boldly works out of the jam (for the save). And it was a nail-biter. Former Capt. Mark DeDona visited and helped prep team. Alums Robert Reatz and Morgan Small lifted spirits mid-game. Irony of team effort: Offense was provided by seniors Rickey Nunez (2R, 2H, 2B, BB), Sawyer Reo (2R, 2H, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 SBs, BB, CI), Evan Froelich (RBI single), Zach Harwayne (2H, 2 RBI) and Hugo Tosler (RBI, H). Pitching was handled by underclassmen: starter Jake Rapoport (4.1 IP), his freshman “twin” Jadon Renert (1.2 IP, gets the W) and Cooper Chung (1 IP) who entered with 0 outs and bases loaded and worked hard with the full team behind him.
