From Coach Nardiello: Game 1 started-out strong vs John Jay, 1-0, but we couldn’t get big hits when it mattered, especially in the 2nd, 3rd innings. (Could have been an entirely different game.) Plenty of chances, but we squandered a nice start by Hugo Tosler (4H & 3Ks in 4 IP, but 5 walks hurt). Jay scored 4 in the second, and we could not answer back. Batting star was Simon with 2 hits. We had 7 stolen bases, 6 walks — but again, we couldn’t get timely hits in a 7-1 loss. Great to see 2 from last year’s senior class: Robert Reatz & Owen Bassett returning from college to join us in the dugout.
